A training serious game for RTG crane operators, built in Unreal Engine 5 on a five-screen rig: a reusable quest system —task classes, task collections and events— drives the maneuvers, and a Pixel Streaming instructor station lets a trainer watch and intervene in the session remotely. I also built the block-based container generation system with encoding, the video optimization to sustain the stream, and migrated Pixel Streaming from Node.js to NestJS with a custom frontend.

Problem

Training RTG crane operators on real equipment is expensive and risky, and instructors need to supervise and intervene in sessions without being inside the cabin.

Solution

I built an immersive Unreal Engine 5 simulator running on a five-screen station, with block-coded container generation, a reusable task system, and a remote instructor station via Pixel Streaming with NestJS signaling.

Result

Safe, repeatable training with real-time remote supervision, sustaining the stream thanks to the simulator's video optimization.

Template Migration to NestJS

I migrated the Pixel Streaming template from Node.js to NestJS and developed the frontend based on a provided mockup.
